Hyperlipidemia Drugs Restrict Lipoprotein Production Increase Lipoprotein (A) HmG – CoA Reductase Inhibitors- statins : lipitor, Zocor, Crestor QUESTRAN, WELCOL- Binds with bile in intestines and removes with feces cholesterol absorption inhibitors : Zetia – inhibit intestinal absorption of cholesterol Blocks synthesis of cholesterol and increase LDL receptors in the liver, decrease LDL and triglycerides, increases HDL Increases HDL, Interferes with the absorption of other drugs Increases HDL, decreases LDL, CONTRAINDICATED WITH LIVER DISEASE.
