Summary Description:
Our laboratory uses molecular-based strategies to study the role of microbiota in health vs.
disease. Currently, we use microbial metagenomics to determine the microbial profile of oral
cavity and the human genes involved in various diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular
diseases.
Expectations and Role of Student:
The student is expected to be enthusiastic about the research and work diligently. She/ he will
be working closely with the lab director, laboratory technical staff, and other investigators in the
Department of Oral Medicine and Dental Clinic on one of the ongoing projects. The student will
be expected to prepare an abstract for presentation and a manuscript for submission to a
journal in the field.
