• Allosteric modulators can change Km or Vmax or
both
• Not all allosteric enzymes are cooperative
• Allosteric modulation renders an enzyme
sensitive to metabolites other than its own
substrates and products (e.g., ATCase is
sensitive to endproducts of purine and
pyrimidine biosynthesis).
