Major achievements in commercial, social and environmental areas (including evidence of relationship management, business, commercial and project management expertise, if relevant). Co-inventor of the sheep twinning vaccine Androvax and the fertility drug Ovagen™ .I developed the product, IP, registration and QA process for Androvax. With Ovagen, I developed the product, method of assessing biopotency and QA procedures. Since 1994, these products have generated over $100 million dollars pa to the NZ economy. I was PI, leader of the research team and co-discoverer of the BMP15, GDF9 and ALK6 genetic mutations in sheep and the immunization strategies targeting BMP15 and GDF9 to regulate fertility in mammals. This work led to 6 patents and two new paradigms in reproductive biology that: (1) the oocyte is a major regulator of ovarian follicular development in mono-ovulatory species and; (2) of ovulation-quota in mammals. On environmental and social issues, I have presented several invited public lectures (e.g. ovarian cancer and my reproduction research, Wellington Town Hall, 2009); Victoria University, 2008 on ‘environmental risks to human fertility and fertility management’. In 2010, I took part in a 60min TV documentary reviewing published evidence for the benefits of oral contraception in women. These topics were also addressed on public radio in science programmes with follow-up coverage in national newspapers. 3. Demonstration of relationships with end-users. Member of the WHO team evaluating infertility issues women and assisting in establishing a reproduction research programme in Cuba (1982). Member ICPbio Ltd management board (1995-2004) I was involved in product design, QA, sales and marketing of Ovagen and other fertility products (e.g. rec FSH). Consultant for AgVax Developments Ltd (1993-2006) regarding Androvax, a sheep twinning vaccine, with respect to product development, IP, QA and registration. I have been on call to provide technical advice to veterinarians and farmers on fertility management for over 14 years. Currently, I have professional associations with Fertility Associates (NZ) on fertility diagnostics and with the NZ Dairy industry on cow fertility management during the post-partum period.
