Course Goals
This course is designed to enhance student’s knowledge of mathematics in the following
areas: the number system, expressions & equations, geometry, ratios & proportional
relationships and statistics & probability. These skills are applied to situations and
scenarios found in the world around us. Students engage in daily lessons, assignments
and activities designed to strengthen problem solving skills. Students will communicate
their understanding of mathematical concepts in a variety of ways through both speaking
and writing.
Objectives
There are four critical areas of focus in 7th grade.
1.) Develop and understanding of operations with rational numbers and work with
expressions and linear equations.
2.) Apply proportional relationships in a variety of ways.
3.) Make inferences about populations based on samples.
4.) Solve problems involving scale drawings and geometric constructions and working
with two and three dimensional shapes to solve problems about area, surface area
and volume.
