A WHOLE NEW FREEDOM: ACTS 3:1-20
Lean In
 Put yourself in the shoes of the beggar in this passage. What is going through your mind
knowing that you are put there to beg each day?
Look Down: Read Acts 3:1-26
 How does Luke describe the condition and situation of the beggar in verse 2?
 Look back at Peter’s actions in verses 3–7. What details does Luke give in verses 7–9 to let
us know that this is a miracle?
 Through what name did they heal the lame man? Why is this significant?
 A clear distinction is made between “his name” and “faith in his name” is this important?
 Who was it that had faith in Jesus so that the man could be healed? Why is this important to
know and understand?
 List at least 4 characteristics of miraculous healing in the Bible as illustrated by this
passage.
 According to Scripture, what purpose do miracles have?
o John 3:2, 5:36, 10:37-38
o Luke 5:24-25
o Acts 2:22
o Matthew 12:28, Matthew 11:1-6
o Mark 16:20
 What tone did Peter take in his speech? What did he accuse the people of doing?
 What did he encourage the people to do as a response to what had been done against Jesus?
 Looking at verses 13–15, contrast the titles Peter uses to designate Jesus with the
horrendous ways the people treated him. What “excuse” do the people give?
 Pick out the promises that God had made through his servants from Peter’s speech. How
has Jesus already fulfilled those promises? How is he fulfilling them presently? How will he
fulfill them in the future?
Look Out
 In verses 19–23, Peter tells the people what a proper response to Jesus Christ is. How do
we explain the benefits & consequences to those who don’t know Him yet?
Look In
 In this passage Peter and John are focused on being intentional with the crippled man. How
is God calling you to this same intentionality to explain the Gospel with those He has placed
in your path?
 Peter was very bold in naming sin. What sins in your life need to be named, confessed, and
repented of? What would keep you from walking in the light with your Life Group?
 What are the implications for you today that you are a New
Covenant Christian? How does this change your life?
