To talk about musical instruments. 2. To talk about types of music, singers that they like and explain why they like their music using the phrases ‘it makes me+adj / it makes me+verb’. 3. To practice using of new words. 4. To practice listening for gist and for specific information. Vocabulary: piano, guitar, saxophone, violin, cello, viola, trumpet, bassoon, trombone, dutar, doira, pop music, opera, classical music, rock, country music, jazz. I. The beginning of the lesson. 1. Organizing moment: greeting, asking day and date, speaking about weather. 2. Asking homework: to study about life of the famous composers and musicians. II. The main part of the lesson. 1. Music, artful arrangement of sounds across time. This definition is obviously very broad, but a narrower one would exclude too much. Music is part of virtually every culture on Earth, but it varies widely among cultures in style and structure. Definitions of music can change dramatically over a short time, as they have across the world during the 20th century. 2. To introduce musical instruments and study the pronunciation: piano, guitar, saxophone, violin, cello, viola, trumpet, bassoon, trombone, dutar, doira. 3. To practice listening: listen the sound and find what instrument it is. 4. To introduce types of music: pop music, opera, classical music, jazz, rock, country music. 5. Pupils interview each other what types of music they like/ don`t like and why using the phrases ‘it makes me+adj / it makes me+verb’. 6. Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s work combined Russian and European influences. His music was the first by a Russian to be included regularly in concert programs in Europe. Tchaikovsky’s music for the ballets The Nutcracker (1891-1892) and Swan Lake (1876) is some of the best-known classical music of all time. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, an 18th-century Austrian classical composer and one of the most famous musicians of all time, came from a family of musicians that included his father and sister. Mozart wrote masses, oratorios, symphonies, concertos, sonatas, and more, but he is best known for his operas. Ludwig van Beethoven Ludwig van Beethoven is considered possibly the greatest Western composer of all time. He wrote symphonies, concertos, chamber music, sonatas, and vocal music. His best-known composition is the Ninth Symphony with its passionate chorus, the Ode to Joy. Beethoven began to lose his hearing in the 1790s and was completely deaf by 1818. Frédéric François Chopin Polish-born French composer Frédéric Chopin began to study piano at age four, in 1814. Chopin’s compositions, nearly all of which were written for piano, are romantic and lyrical. 7. To speak about cities which are connected with music. New Orleans New Orleans is the largest city in Louisiana, the USA.It stands on the bank of the river Mississippi. New Orleans is a home of jazz. Jazz is a mixture of blues, dance songs and hymns. Black musicians started to play jazz in the late 19th century. Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton came from the city. New Orleans is most famous for its jazz, but it also has a philharmonic orchestra. Vienna State Opera House, Vienna The State Opera House in Vienna is one of several performance halls for which this city is famous. Built between 1861 and 1869, the Opera House was inaugurated with a performance of Mozart’s Don Giovanni on May 25, 1869. Vienna was the music capital of the world for many centuries. Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, and Strauss family all came to work here. It is now the home of one of the world`s most famous orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic. Its State Opera house is also world famous. Liverpool Liverpool is Britain’s second biggest port, after London. It stand on the River Mersey. Liverpool’s most famous musicians are The Beatles. In the 1960s British rock group was famous all over the world. They had 30 top ten hits. They were all born in Liverpool and started the group there in 1959. They first played at a night club called the Cavern and then travelled the world. One of them Paul McCartney, is now the richest musician in the world. Many tourists visit Liverpool to see the homes of the Beatles. The Beatles III. The end of the lesson 1. Conclusion of the lesson: 1. Make groups. Hand out tests. While pupils are discussing the questions, teacher walks around, help with the vocabulary and correct mistakes. 2. Giving marks to pupils: announce pupils` marks and put them in their daybooks. 3.
