Information for Clients of Deutsche Bank Blocked Accounts
Applicants for a student visa need to show proof of sufficient funds for the entire duration of
the studies or courses in Germany. The amount of at least 720.00 EUR per month has to be
at your disposal when studying in Germany. One way is to open a so-called blocked account
with Deutsche Bank:
https://www.deutsche-bank.de/pfb/content/pk-konto-und-karte-international-students.html
The German Missions are assigned to participate in the authentication process as part of
opening a blocked account for foreign students and have been instructed to forward your
account documents as well as other requested paperwork directly to the Deutsche Bank.
It is, however, not the responsibility of the German Missions to actually organize and
undertake the shipment of the documents. It is rather your own duty as a client of the
Deutsche Bank to make sure that the necessary steps to ship the paperwork to Germany
have been arranged beforehand.
To ensure a smooth and speedy delivery of the bank documents to the Deutsche Bank, you
are kindly asked to bring an A4 envelope, an EMS sticker (available free of charge at all
Japan Post offices) and stamps amounting to 2.200 Japanese yen along to the German
Mission.
Please, also bring:
- the completed application form
- your valid passport and one copy
- a copy of the course admission letter from your university/language school
- evidence of the source of your funds (e.g. bank statements)
The German Mission will use the envelope to forward the paperwork to the service office of
the Deutsche Bank. The envelope has to be addressed as follows:
Recipient:
Sender:
Deutsche Bank
Please leave blank,
Privat- und Geschäftskunden AG
as it will be filled in by the Embassy
Alter Wall 53
or Consulate
20457 Hamburg / Germany
Stand: 08/2016
Please make a note of the EMS tracking number, so that you can check the status later.
Please note that you will have to pay a fee for the signature certification on the blocked
account application form at the German Missions. The fee is 20.00 EUR and can be paid in
Japanese yen at the German Mission’s exchange rate.
