Bank J. Safra Sarasin’s Financial Engineering/Structuring team is located in Basel and develops and
trades tailor-made structured products and OTC derivatives. The range of products includes structured
products on equities, fixed income and credit, FX, and commodities (“cross asset”). The team serves
primarily the bank’s global internal clients. The daily work flow is composed by the pricing and hedging
of specific requests from clients, reverse engineering of structured products issued by third-party
issuers, and providing trading ideas (analysis of clients’ needs, research markets and recommending
investment solutions).
As an intern, you'll help the team with:
• the pricing and structuring of structured products, OTC and vanilla requests;
• the final completion of products successfully launched (after trade support);
• improving the efficiency of the work-flow;
• promoting and assisting the distribution of structured product solutions internally (internal
communication, education and reverse engineering) by working closely with the Financial
Strategies Advisory team and the Client Relationship Managers.
Candidates
• developed a thorough knowledge of derivative financial instruments across equities, fixed
income, credit and commodities during their studies (“option pricing”);
• have a good understanding of the worldwide financial markets dynamics together with the
ability to craft and pitch trade ideas;
• have strong interpersonal skills, a highly self-motivated, independent and stress resistant
personality;
• are fluent in English and conversant in German.
For this internship, we recruit students with at least a completed bachelor or students near the end of
their master studies. We target an internship period of six months and ideally candidates are available
as of July 2015. High performing interns may be pipelined for the bank’s graduate training program.
