In Sub-Sahara Africa alone 90% of schools lack access to power. Energy poverty limits economic development and traps millions of people into extreme poverty. SEforALL Pledge Candidates are probationary Junior Fellows and agree to a minimum of 160 hours of community service during the school year. Community service activities may include, but are not limited to, providing leadership on school- and community-based outreach designed to encourage multi-stakeholder engagement in the goals and objectives of the SEforALL Initiative. Pledge Candidates are expected to develop an online portfolio on their Service-Learning activities throughout the commitment term. Candidates completing community service are awarded designation as a Junior Fellow and may be eligible to earn advanced placement college credits through Norwich University upon completion of a 2nd summer term. Certificate in Sustainable Energy Development One-Year Undergraduate Residency Undergraduate Work-Learning-Service High school graduates and currently enrolled undergraduate students that successfully complete the Summer Institute in good standing may apply for enrollment in a one-year, credit-bearing Certificate in Sustainable Energy Development as Undergraduate Junior Fellows In-Residence. (i) Undergraduate residencies are conducted off-campus at locations to be determined based upon Work-Service-Learning engagements of the Institute. Locations may be domestic and/or international, and will be announced prior to the beginning of each academic year. All Junior Fellows In-Residence will participate in Work-Learning-Service internships. (ii) Interns provide SEforALL member nations and their affiliated public and private stakeholders with technical assistance and human capacity building services for transparent, inquiry-based predictive modeling, decision support and investment-grade project proposals for national-scale transition planning to a low-carbon economy.
