Measurement of motion in a negative mass reference frame – a new frontier for gravitational wave interferometry Eugene S. Polzik University of Copenhagen A measurement of motion not limited by the standard quantum limit has been recently demonstrated. We report the results of the experiment where motion of a nanomembrane is measured in the reference frame of the atomic spin and outline a proposal for using it for accelerometry and gravitational wave interferometry.
