PT. Siemens Industrial Power is a Joint
Venture of Siemens AG, Germany and PT
Nusantara Turbin dan Propulsi, Indonesia,
for the manufacturing of steam turbines
to serve Indonesia’s growing energy
market.
The initial focus of the new company
based in Bandung, West Java, will be on
the production of steam turbines in the
small power output range for Distributed
Energy generation – the Small Power
Plants Project of PLN and the Indonesian
Government, as well for independent
power producers.

An innovative range of steam turbines for
geothermal applications will soon be
introduced.
In addition, the manufacture will support
various industries as well as other forms
of renewable power based on biomass,
waste and solar thermal energy.
The Company aims to achieve quickly a
high level of local content in its production, bringing job opportunities for skilled
technicians, engineers and others.
Local production, assembly and packaging of machine components which up to
now have been procured overseas will
2
replace importation and thus reduce
Indonesia’s demand for foreign currencies. It will bring high technological progress into the country.
With the combined experience of the
Joint Venture partners in the energy sector, we are offering our customers steam
turbines with the highest reliability and
efficiency to support their demands,
backed by on-the-spot service and spare
parts availability.
Initially, the Company’s main production
will comprise SST-140 steam turbines for
both back pressure or condensing applications with internally controlled extraction and scope for several bleeds with
capacity up to 20 Megawatt.
More than 100 units of this type of steam
turbine type have been installed worldwide in several countries, including three
in Indonesia which have an exemplary
track record.
The turbine is designed with a single-casing geared steam turbine and fitted with
impulse blading, developed to meet the
most demanding customer requirements
for cost-efficient power generation and
mechanical drive applications. The
impulse blading design for industrial
applications enables flexibility of operation without disturbance for extensive
and rapid changes of load.
The SST-140 turbine with gearbox and
generator is packaged in a skid-mounted
design (can also be with separate oil system). The pre-designed turboset enables
early planning of the turbine building
layout, saving time for the customer.
The blading design provides for high efficiency over the whole operation range,
giving the customer highly flexible plant
operation, bring overhelming benefits in
life cycle costs.
Other turbine types will be introduced as
the Company develops and according to
market demands.
Fields of Application
Siemens steam turbines increase the efficiency of power generation, free disturbance in variable loading mode, and
improve the economy of all applications.
Distributed Generation
The initial focus of the Company is
strongly upon the Distributed Generation
development plans in Indonesia. However many other customer groups will
benefit from this enterprise:
