Magnetic structure in asymmetric magnetic reconnection Abstrct We use 2-d particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation to investigate the asymmetric magnetic reconnection about the similar structure on magnetopause. The result shows that in the collisionless reconnection, the out-of-plant magnetic field By presents the lopsided quadrupole structure, which has stronger and wider lope in the side of magnetosheeth and however, weaker and smaller lope in the side of magnetopause. In addition, the in-plant current, particularly electric current is almost different from the symmetric reconnection case. Electrons flow along the separation line of the magnetosheeth side into the electric diffusion region (EDR) and somehow, most electrons flow along the separation line of the magnetopause side way from the EDR. Such current flow is consistent with the lopsided quadrupole magnetic filed.
