God’s Approval Rating

s I wonder if we took a poll what God's approval rating would
be? We spend way too much time watching the polls of political
figures and changing our minds of support or lack of support
based on the masses. It always reminds me of a herd of sheep
who are following a goat up into the back of a truck that is headed to
market. Sounds like a baaaaddddd idea to me?
When things are going great we tend to think highly of God. We praise Him, in
fact, and even invite others to join His following. But, when the storm comes
and the waves are crashing, with lightning and thunder threatening our lives,
we run for cover. Like Peter who stepped out of the boat to meet Jesus, we
start looking at the waves around us and begin to sink. I, for one, probably
wouldn't have had the faith to even get out of that boat. What about you?
What do you think is God's approval rating? How would you rate God and His
activity in your life?
The Bible tells me "Every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes down
from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of
turning." -James 1:17
I love good and perfect gifts, don't you? Oh man, God You are so
awesome! Thank you so much for the wonderful gifts you have given. There is
none like you Father. I love you Lord. Praise your Holy name. I will love You
and serve You forever. I am Yours, Lord, to do with whatever You please.
What? You say there are 10 things to begin with if I wish to truly follow You
anywhere? What? They are not things, they are commandments? Really? I am
expected to follow them? Really? Ok! What are they?

#1 - THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME
#2 - THOU SHALT NOT MAKE UNTO THEE ANY GRAVEN IMAGE
#3 - THOU SHALT NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD THY GOD IN VAIN
#4 - REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY TO KEEP IT HOLY
#5 - HONOR THY FATHER AND THY MOTHER
#6 - THOU SHALT NOT KILL
#7 - THOU SHALT NOT COMMITT ADULTERY
#8 - THOU SHALT NOT STEAL
#9 - THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOR
#10 - THOU SHALT NOT COVET
Well, Ok God, you just took all the fun out of life! What fun is there left?
Salvation. Eternal life. Freedom from the wages of your sin. Peace of mind
that goes beyond understanding. Knowing the freedom of being obedient to
God. Hiding in the shadow of the Almighty. Protection. Lack of
guilt. Forgiveness. Having one's name written in the Book of Life.
I give God a 10, even though God has given me a 10 to live by.
