General Description
Control of our full supply chain is one of the key pillars of the strategy of Cocoanect, being a supply
chain manager! Ensuring timely shipments, with the right quality of goods, both at shipment and
arrival and avoiding operational losses, amongst others salvage cocoa, are a large contributor to the
image and success of our company.
The Supply Chain Control Officer oversees the day to day activities in Supply Chain Control and
ensures the company’s supply chain control measures are organised and efficient. Improve, develop
and implement supply chain control measures and produce data analysis reports based on which
commercial and (risk) management decision making can be based. The Supply Chain Control officer is
Cocoanect’s cocoa quality expert, both for sound and damaged goods, and implements all measures
to avoid damaged cocoa.
We’re looking for an experienced, commercial oriented and dedicated supply chain management and
quality control professional who is able to drive the business forward. The “hands on” role requires
flexibility to travel globally as well as handle detailed data collection and analysis. A good sense for
opportunities and potential problems in supply chain management is inevitable as well as a basic
understanding of physical commodity trading.

Key tasks
1. Develop and implement operational control measures in origin, during voyage and at
destination: Are we fully in control of our operations?

Further develop and implement supply chain control procedures in origin, including but not
limited to:
o Quality control procedures at different stages of the sourcing of cocoa, including
setting up own labs or upgrade labs from partners
o Stock and weight control procedures in (future) own managed and/or at our partners
sourcing, cleaning and export operations

Develop and implement supply chain control procedures at destination, including but not
limited to:
o Own and 3rd party quality analysis at major destinations and/or head office
o Timely and correct receipt and unloading of cocoa at destination
o Good receipt of cocoa by clients and warehouse keepers
o Quality and weight development of (own) stock at destination
o Timely and correct further loading of cocoa to final destinations in case of delivery
from stock

Develop and implement supply chain control procedures during voyage, including but not
limited to:
o Know exactly where our cocoa is
o Avoid, in close cooperation with our logistics service providers, swift shipment with
limited and short transhipments
o Ensure, in close communication with origin and logistics teams, that cocoa can be
received at destination, i.e. make sure all shipping and import documents are
accurate and declared to receivers on time to ensure immediate unloading.

Initiate cost efficiency measures in supply chain control related expenditures
2. Data Collection & Analysis: All data related to weight, quality, time and costs of entire lifecycle of
our cocoa



Further develop data collection of operational control related matters such as stock, weight,
quality and shipments and related costs (THC, demurrage, port storage, surveyors costs, etc.)
Develop and implement reporting on stock, weight, quality, shipments, loadings (exwarehouse) and other operational control matters to trade, logistics, back-office and
management.
Develop and implement reporting on quality, shipments and other operational control
matters to clients and suppliers/partners.
3. Prevent and manage insurance claims

Implement measures prior to shipment to avoid damaged cocoa on arrival, including but
not limited to:
o Selecting the best dressing material at the lowest possible price. Where possible
arrange dressing material directly from source.
o Ensure correct stuffing of containers and loading of breakbulk vessels
o Implementing robust moisture management measures and any other measures
to avoid damage during transport of cocoa

Implement measures at receipt and unloading of containers and breakbulk vessels at
destination to avoid damaged cocoa on arrival, including but not limited to:
o Correct and timely unloading of containers and vessels
o Correct and timely splitting of damaged and sound cocoa
o Correct analysis of sound and damaged cocoa on arrival



Report insurance claims to insurer in case of own storage
Manage reporting of insurance claims by receivers to insurer
Ensure a correct valuation of the damaged cocoa


Find the most cost effective and P&L friendly solutions with receivers of cocoa re
damaged cocoa
Ensure the most cost effective and P&L friendly solutions for damaged cocoa which is
stored by ourselves
4. Relationship management with supply chain control service providers



Negotiate rates, develop reporting procedures and maintain relationships with quality and
weight surveyors;
Report to and maintain relationship with insurance company/broker
Maintain relationship with salvage experts and salvage buyers to ensure up-to-date product,
operational control and market knowledge
Education, knowledge and experience



Level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification. At least 5 years of
relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in supply chain management, preferably operational and
quality control
Extensive knowledge of and experience in operational control procedures and standards in
commodities, preferably cocoa
Skills
 Fluent in English, French and preferably Spanish, both verbal and written
 Organizational skills

 Computer literate with good Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
