Live Auction ideas

 Travel is great if you can get it donated. Be sure to get hotel, airfare and any additional items to add once at the
destination.
 Time Shares – so many have these and can’t use them – Ask your committee and if they don’t have one ask your
committee to ask those that do
 Tri City Cycle Motorcycles has donated motorcycles in the past – they may be a few years back in models but
they are donated.

 CooperSmith’s Pub & Brewing has been known to donate a private party for 20 complete with three pool tables
for two hours and includes 7 large pizzas and seven pitchers of soda or beer.
 A day in the life – perhaps the charity you are working with is one that lends itself to spending a day in the life
with the group – or someone on your committee has an exciting job and can offer this package.
 CSU tickets along with dinner and drinks and apparel and signed items add to the value. Or ask for ground level
passes from Nelligan Marketing at CSU.
 Provide a tailgate at a CSU game complete with food, drink, tent, grills etc.
 Tour of New Belgium or Odell Brewing Company – complete with private tasting and a free t-shirt for everyone
 Jewelry of any kind is always successful
 Contact Auction Houses – they may have something that hasn’t sold and would like to donate to be part of the
event.
 Poker Parties – find someone in your group that would donate a poker party at their home – complete with
poker essentials, food and drink and even a prize for the winner of the evening.
 Cooking Parties – have someone in your group donate their home and them cooking for 8 people complete with
theme, food, drink – etc
 Landscaping is huge – trees, sod, design, rocks, you name it!
 Lasik Eye Surgery
 Golf outing with a pro – including play and instruction and drinks and dinner to follow

 Set of tires
 A day at vintages bottling your own wine followed or proceeded by a dinner or lunch in downtown Fort Collins.
 A Dining Tour of Fort Collins – perhaps you can get five dinners donated – this can be auctioned off as Dining
around Fort Collins.
 Take a corridor or street or destination area in Fort Collins an collect as many items as you can from that area –
then call it the Old Town Basket, Harmony Corridor Basket, College Avenue – etc.
Silent Auction Ideas
You can have as many as you like but bundling them could help you to raise more money. Also, themed baskets of items
are very popular these days – try this.
 Art Pieces valued under $500 – can be framed, sculpted, hand painted, molded glass, photographs – you name
it! Floral arrangements could also fit here as well as custom wreaths, pillows, rugs.
 Any type of jewelry valued under $500.
 Plants and trees from nurseries.
 Alcohol is a good silent auction item – wine bottles by themselves or a selection of 3-6 bottles of a certain style,
champagne also works well in an auction, or a Tequila basket for a Salsa party or a Rum Basket for an Island
Party and don’t forget Scotch or beer – Fort Collins is the microbrew capital!
 As mentioned before golf baskets are a big hit these days – here are a few themes that are popular: Baby Basket
with homemade items, Gourmet basket filled with oils, vinegars, cookbook, cheeses, etc, Chocolate basket,
Children’s activity basket, Auto Detail basket, Spa packages (two pedicures, two manicures and perhaps martinis
somewhere), Lavender basket of Relaxation…the list goes on and on.
 Sports packages such as tickets to Nuggets, Broncos, Rockies, CSU – where it’s just a set of tickets and not a
package that could make it in the live auction.
 Family memberships at health spas
 Autographed items such as footballs, baseballs, hockey sticks
 Golf equipment such as clubs, balls and now the GPS systems.
 Camping Equipment
 Bicycles
 A foot of steaks – this has been successful in the past – you could use any type of meat actually.
 Apparel such as jackets, coats, specified golf apparel.
 Lift tickets, foursomes in golf, or batting cages
 And a favorite a day at Fort Fun, miniature golf, laser tag, etc.
 Theatre packages from area art venues such as Open Stage, Bas Bleu, Lincoln Center, as well as the art theatres
in Denver such as the Buell Theatre make great packages. Any one of these can be packages with dinner out
along with a limo ride and it’s a special evening.
 Estes Park getaways are great as well as The Edwards House and Armstrong in Fort Collins for an overnight stay.
Local hotels are also known for making donations of an overnight stay and throwing in breakfast.
 Know someone who lives on a lake or has a boat – great! You’ve got a package for an afternoon in the summer
complete with boat, food and drink.
 Restaurants are a favorite – any restaurant ask for a donation. Dinner for two or a specified amount would be
perfect. You never want to get an item that says a percentage off – this can’t be used in the auction.
 Auto Detailing
 Pet Baskets
 Weekend in Denver – get a hotel then add tickets to Butterfly Pavilion, The Zoo and perhaps Natural History
Museum.
