identity, and competence formation process for diverse
youth in the united states and abroad.
Identity Model
 A child’s psychology development and racial identity
and it’s implications during childhood, focusing on
preschool and childhood.
 Racial awareness subsequently influences racial
preferences and attitudes but, is also developmentally
and culturally influenced.
What Children Think
 The white race is the ‘prefered’ race, children mostly
believe that people who are white are more ‘beautiful’
and ‘nice’ and people of color are the ‘bad’ and ‘ugly’
race.

Racial Identity and Education
 During her studies she found that children of color
who were having trouble with their racial identity, also
had troubles in their education.
