Executive MBA ‘Women in Leadership’ Scholarship Application Form
50% Tuition Scholarship for 2016 Entry
The Dean of Portsmouth Business School, Professor Gioia Pescetto, is delighted to sponsor two ‘Women
in Leadership’ scholarships for MBA applicants. Two 50% tuition scholarships are available to women
who have been offered a place on the Portsmouth Executive MBA for the 2016-17 academic year.
‘Women in Leadership’ scholarships are offered to:
 Encourage more women into leadership roles by undertaking the Portsmouth MBA.
 Recognise women who demonstrate a commitment to their own leadership development and that
of others.
 Support high aspirations and the development of future leadership potential.
 Contribute to economic and social well-being.
Scholarship decisions will be based on the strength of a candidate’s scholarship application, her
qualifications and experience summarised in the admissions application, and an interview. Winners will
be notified by the end of June and have three weeks to formally accept the award.
Scholarships may only be awarded to those applicants who have already accepted their offer of a place
on the course and whose admissions status is unconditional at the point of scholarship notification.

Please write an essay to respond to the following question (maximum 2,000 words in length):
The 'Women on Boards' Annual Report 2015 by Lord Davies states that a voluntary, targetbased approach, without the need for legislative quotas, is being proved to be the right way
forward to increasing the proportion of women on FTSE 100 companies by British business
leaders.
Do you think this is an effective way to achieve positive change in women's representation in
FTSE boardrooms, and why?
