independent publishing houses.
Midge Raymond
Fiction and Creative Non-fiction
Midge Raymond is the author of the novel My Last Continent and the award-winning short-story collection Forgetting
English. Midge worked in publishing in New York and has also published two books for writers, Everyday Writing and
Everyday Book Marketing. Midge is the co-founder of the boutique publisher Ashland Creek Press.
Sophie Hamley
Sophie Hamley has worked in the print and online publishing industries as a bookseller, editor, writer, content
producer, web and interactive TV producer. She was a literary agent at Camerons Management from 2006
until 2014; she is a past President of the Australian Literary Agents’ Association and was also a member of the
Book Industry Collaborative Council and the Visiting International Publishers committee within the Australia
Council. She is now a non-fiction publisher at Hachette Australia, where is also coordinate s the Hachette
Mentoring Programme with several writers centres and organisations around Australia and in New Zealand.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES








Manuscripts are to be no longer than 20 pages and submitted as .doc or .rtf files, in Times New Roman font,
12pt and minimum 1.5pt line spacing
If you are submitting short fiction that is less than 20 pages you may include only one story
For book-length works, your submission must be accompanied by a synopsis (max. 1 page)
Work must be submitted electronically. Hard copies will not be accepted
Closing date and time for submissions is Wednesday 31 August, 11:59pm
If your application is successful, full payment ($150.00) must be made within 48 hours of notification
All decisions are final and no feedback will be given to individual applicants
