New Features in Spot v5.4.1
Enhanced Security Features
New security features now assist operators in securing their network operations.
The release leverages Microsoft’s Active
Directory service to provide centralized
user administration, restricted access and
Microsoft standard auditing. This feature
expands the use of domain authentication to include access to databases, network shares, registry keys and local disks.
Domain administrators have complete
control over the creation and management of group and user accounts.
Channel Capacity
The maximum number of channels supported has been increased from 10,000
to 60,000* and is configurable. Each slave
database can now support up to 1,200
channels or up to three (3) 400-channel
downstream Inserters.**
Support for New Platforms
In addition to Microsoft Windows Server
2008 operating system and Microsoft
SQL Server 2008 database management
system, Spot 5.4.1 now runs on Microsoft
Windows Server 2000 and 2003 and
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database
management system. Customers running
older versions of Spot with any of the
above mentioned Microsoft products
may use their existing hardware platforms
to run Spot 5.4.1.
NAS Support for the MVL
The MVL can be configured to use
Network Attached Storage (NAS) as its
repository for videos to allow for larger
storage volumes. NAS support includes
both public and password-protected
storage paths. The maximum number
of video files supported by the MVL is
1 million.
Archive Service Improvements
Like the MVL, the Archive Service now
supports NAS storage for Nearline,
Backup and Miscellaneous volumes. To
efficiently handle a larger number of
archived videos, grooming and retrieval
now process files by air-time order, with
the oldest air-time groomed first, and the
nearest time-to-air retrieved first.
Easy
