Governments have made huge strides in setting strong efficiency policies, which now cover
about 30 percent of energy demand globally. But while much has been accomplished, energy
efficiency is far from fulfilling its potential. These critical questions will be addressed in the
IEA Energy Efficiency Market Report 2016, which will be released on Monday, 10 October
2016.
The report will be presented at the World Energy Congress by Dr. Fatih Birol, Executive
Director of the IEA, and Brian Motherway, head of the Energy Efficiency Division.
Questions that will be addressed include:

Which countries and policies are having the greatest impact, and what is the recipe for
their success?

Are we improving energy efficiency fast enough to achieve our climate goals?



