FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE August 18, 2010 Contact: Nelly J. Arévalo, (610) 202-0016 [email protected] The Pennsylvania Immigration & Citizenship Coalition (PICC) selects Brad Baldia as its new Executive Director! The Pennsylvania Immigration and Citizenship Coalition (PICC) is proud to announce its selection of Brad Baldia as Executive Director. Brad has been on the board of PICC for over four years and has been a longtime leader and advocate for immigrant communities. Previously, he worked as the Director of the Southeast Philadelphia Collaborative. He has extensive experience with fundraising/development, media/PR, lobbying/campaigning and grassroots organizing. Brad is involved with many organizations on a local and national level such as: Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on Asian American Affairs, Multicultural Affairs Congress (Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau), Center for Progressive Leadership, Leadership Philadelphia’s Top Connectors and serves as the National President of the National Association of Asian American Professionals. According to Nelly J. Arévalo, Chair of the Board, “we chose Brad Baldia from a large and very competitive pool of applicants. We felt that Brad’s leadership experience and background made him a perfect match for the PICC Executive Director position. Since Brad has already been working with the board for many years, it should be a smooth transition!” Brad plans to continue all the great work that the previous Executive Director, Regan Cooper, established with PICC over the past eight years. Brad’s focus for his first year will be three fold: fundraising/sustainability, marketing/branding and increased benefit for its member agencies. “This is an exciting time in PICC’s history and an opportunity to bring the organization to the next level.” says Brad. “I plan to actively seek ways to grow the organization by looking at other similar state-wide coalitions and seeing what other services and value we can provide to immigrants in the Commonwealth. The goal is obviously not to replicate the good work that is already being done but to see potential gaps in service as well as opportunities for innovation.” On behalf of the Board of Directors, we thank PICC’s Interim Executive Director, Susan Kim, for her leadership and commitment to the organization during this transition time. PICC is a diverse group of over 50 organizations statewide that brings together professionals, advocates and immigrant groups of different backgrounds to share information and resources, identify common problems, and advocate for solutions. www.paimmigrant.org ###
