TORONTO – February 28, 2017 – Women in Mining Canada (“WIMC”) wish to extend an

opportunity to contribute to their full potential, including women, men, indigenous people,
visible minorities, persons with physical and mental disabilities, and the LGBTQ community.
WIMC and its "Trailblazer Award Selection Committee" (“TSC”) will also be awarding the
2017 Women in Mining Canada Trailblazer Award to the winner, Susan Craig. The 2017
Trailblazer award is particularly poignant in the light of the roll out of WIMC’s National
Action Plan, which tenor and objectives has been embraced by Susan Craig in her
independent adoption of the many goals WIM Canada aspire achieve in the National
Action Plan.
WIMC will also be awarding the 2017 winner of the Rick Hutson Memorial Award to Patrick
McAandless and the winner of the 2017 Student Trailblazer Award to Sydney Miller.
Women in Mining Canada at their annual PDAC WIMC awards ceremony recognize those
nominees who have mentored women along their journey, either in school or in their
careers in Mining, and those female students who have played a pivotal role in their
studies at their school, highlighting the role of women in the industry.
