“In our industry, competency is what matters.” PDAC Mining For Diversity Reception Awards Ceremony for 2017 Trailblazer Award, the Rick Hutson Memorial Award and the Student Trailblazer Award TORONTO – February 28, 2017 – Women in Mining Canada (“WIMC”) wish to extend an invitation to all its members to attend the 2017 “Mining for Diversity” Reception. The Reception and the 2017 Trailblazer and Mentorship award ceremony will take place at the PDAC ‘Mining For Diversity’ Reception, held at the Metro Convention Centre, Room 70, South Building on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 5h00 to 6h00pm. The Mining for Diversity Event is presented by Women in Mining (WIM) Canada, WIM British Columbia, WIM Montreal, WIM Toronto, WIM International, Women Who Rock, Mujeres Roco (Peru), Covergalls, Mining Industry Human Resources Council and the CIM Diversity and Inclusion Committee. The 2017 Mining for Diversity reception will bring together the industry to celebrate inclusion, and the progress made in the mining industry to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to contribute to their full potential, including women, men, indigenous people, visible minorities, persons with physical and mental disabilities, and the LGBTQ community. WIMC and its "Trailblazer Award Selection Committee" (“TSC”) will also be awarding the 2017 Women in Mining Canada Trailblazer Award to the winner, Susan Craig. The 2017 Trailblazer award is particularly poignant in the light of the roll out of WIMC’s National Action Plan, which tenor and objectives has been embraced by Susan Craig in her independent adoption of the many goals WIM Canada aspire achieve in the National Action Plan. WIMC will also be awarding the 2017 winner of the Rick Hutson Memorial Award to Patrick McAandless and the winner of the 2017 Student Trailblazer Award to Sydney Miller. Women in Mining Canada at their annual PDAC WIMC awards ceremony recognize those nominees who have mentored women along their journey, either in school or in their careers in Mining, and those female students who have played a pivotal role in their studies at their school, highlighting the role of women in the industry. 1|Page About Women in Mining Canada Women in Mining Canada is a national not-for-profit organization formed in 2009 focused on advancing the interests of women in the minerals exploration and mining sector.
