Nucleic Acid: Introduction, types, chemical and physical properties, structure of BDNA & Z-DNA, structure and function of RNA, Isotopes, radioactivity, biological use of radioactivity. UNIT-III General introduction of enzyme and their classification , mechanism of action, enzyme kinetics, factors affecting the rate of reaction, enzyme immobilization and application of enzyme General idea of vitamins structure, types & function, role of metal ion in Biological system (K, Na, Mg, Ca & Fe) UNIT-IV Energetics of living body, electrical properties of Biological compartments. Generation and reception of sonic vibrations, hearing aids Correction of vision faults Physical methods of imaging intact biological structure ultrasounds, optical filters, Xray, CAT scan, NMR imaging, EEG, ECG UNIT-V Lambert- Beer’s Law General spectroscopy, UV-visible, IR, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, NMR. Electrophoresis: principle and types (SDS-PAGE, Agarose Gel electrophoresis, Isoelectrofocusing) Chromatography: principle and types (Paper, Ion-Exchange chromatography, Thinlayer chromatography)
