Aerial Photograph Interpreter
Duration
3 months probation then continuous.
Grade
8
Annual Salary
20,000
Location
York.
Accountable to
David Knight as immediate line manager.
Job Summary
To be trained in, and undertake, digital aerial
photographic transcription and interpretation
under the guidance of David Knight (ARS Ltd)
and English Heritage staff. To carry out further
AP interpretation work and a wide variety of
project-related work such as completing
reports, producing maps, archives, giving
presentations, attending meetings and general
office duties.
Responsibilities/Main Duties
Deliver NMP standard aerial photograph
transcription and interpretation and achieve
and maintain the required standards of work.
Attend meetings and accompany senior staff to
meetings as required.
Undertake and help organise projects,
archiving and preparation of publications.

Illustrative, GIS and other IT work.
Give presentations to professional and public
audiences as required.
To help generate work and liase with clients,
county archaeological officers, the NMR and
other heritage professionals.
Take part in training programmes and staff
development initiatives.
Drive the company vehicle when required.
Keep the company vehicle tidy and roadworthy
at all times. Notify the business administrator of
any faults etc so that they can be rectified.

To abide by the safety rules as set out in the
company’s Health and Safety Handbook.
Hours of Duty
37.5 hours per week.
Annual Leave
All statutory bank holidays (8) plus 20.

Period of Notice
Four weeks.
Confidentiality
It should be noted that some of the information
that the post-holder will access will be of a
confidential nature both to English Heritage
ARS Ltd and other ARS Ltd employees and
clients, and such information must not be
communicated to other persons except where
required for authorized purposes.
Note
This job description does not form part of the
contract of employment.
This job description will be reviewed on a
regular basis.
