1) Professional work experience of 27 years in WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) - in
development (rural, emerging towns and city) and emergency from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka,
Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan covering the following :
(a) Gravity and pumping drinking water piped and on site systems – survey/assessment, design,
implementation using surface and groundwater sources – with spring protection, stream diversion,
bore/tube wells with hand and electric pumps, sand and membrane filters, chlorination, and basic
water testing including e-coli count.
(b) Sustainable sanitation technologies – particularly on-site sanitation using innovative alternating
double pit pour flush and double vault dry ecosan toilets, septic tanks with soakage pits and
absorption trench/beds, and short term and long term emergency latrines, faecal sludge
management in emerging town.
(c) Community mobilization for sustainability and behaviour change in hygiene –classical and
participatory research including PHAST and social marketing approach.
(d) Planning, management and research related work – (i) monitoring, evaluation, review and
impact assessment of projects and programs; (ii) formulation of policy and strategy, (iii)
management information system/ knowledge management, (iv) social survey on demand/use,
knowledge, attitude and practice; and baseline preparation, (v) Capitalization.
(e) Proposal preparation – field assessment and preparation of draft proposals, review of proposal
before finalization [following sound project cycle management and logical framework approach]
(f) Social marketing mainstreaming.
