Consultancy Engagement and Marketing (CE&M)
Project Support Officers (Business Operations)
Summary of Post:
Reviewing, drafting, negotiating and managing/ leading a variety of proposals and contracts
for all areas of the Company's business. Working closely with colleagues in the CE&M team
and Business Operations, develop and manage core relationships with the consultant
community. Leverage new opportunities where possible through these relationships while
focusing on the day to day work of negotiation and closing out contracts for project delivery
by the consultant and the Business Operations team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES














Review, draft, and negotiate contracts for all areas of the Company’s business;
Lead proposals where relevant;
Draft bespoke contracts and modify and negotiate complex contracts to meet the
needs of projects whilst remaining within College policies on Intellectual Property
and warranties and indemnities;
Negotiate contractual terms with clients minimising risk to ICON and the College
while remaining commercially compliant with College and ICON policies;
Carry out analysis of the risks and benefits for the resolving of non-standard
contractual and financial issues affecting specific proposals;
Review of ITTs and contractual terms of tender submissions coordinated by CE&M
and Project Support;
Provide pre and post–contractual support to CE&M and Project Support team;
Develop close working relationships with Imperial College academics in particular in
understanding their projects and in drafting and reviewing their consultancy
contracts;
Support the development of any change in Company delivery models;
Maintain a sound working knowledge of College policies in particular on Intellectual
Property and the College's insurance policies relating to contractual warranties and
indemnities;
Contribute experience and business understanding of the operation of the ICON
private consultancy model;
Initiate and use professional experience and judgment to resolve problems and
queries mainly without reference to others; and
Escalate where necessary complex issues affecting the Company including
suggestions for possible solutions;
Identify and assist in the implementation and/or amendment of processes and






procedures to improve the operational efficiency and quality of ICON's services;
Work with senior management teams on major projects shared between the College
and ICON;
Provide advice and assistance to senior management/team leaders on
contractual/legal policy matters;
Assist in updating the standard contracts to keep up-to-date with current legal
practice and College policies;
Maintain good working knowledge of the strategic aims of the College and build
strong relationships with College’s research leaders, and external clients;
Contribute university contract research and consultancy experience to ICON's
strategic policies and practices;
Identify further opportunities for providing services to new and existing clients.


Contracts delivered against co-ordinated corporate contract processes, managing
the efficient and effective delivery of the processes to a high service standard
ensuring that priorities are determined and met within timelines and in line with
Company Policies.

Minimising or mitigating any negative financial or reputational impact of Imperial

Consultants operations in line with corporate Contract processes and company
Policies.

Generation of new ideas and approaches and quality of innovative contribution
working within team, across functional teams and with consultants, and clients.

Performance against company, team objectives (KPIs) and ICON expectations.

duties which are broadly in line with above key responsibilities.

Experience

Educated to degree level (or
equivalent) with a considerable
period of relevant work
experience
 Practical knowledge of
contract drafting, negotiation
and management in
academic or industrial R& D
context.

consortium agreements
Desirable

Law, Science,
Engineering, or
Business qualification.

Para -Legal and

Experience of working
