Perform leaf removal as leaves fall Mow last few times as weather requires Shut off and drain irrigation systems Prepare for aphid injection during December/January Although last winter was relatively calm with no significant snow or ice event, we did service properties on 3-4 occasions. Regardless of the year, we almost always have a few events where service is needed. And every few years, we get walloped. We provide plowing, sanding, shoveling and de-icing. We previously sent out our Winter Storm Service order form. If you misplaced it or need a new one, let us know. Now is the best time to sign up as winter is coming. We give priority in scheduling to those customers who sign up first so, don’t delay! Fall is finally here in earnest as we have had our first frost, the rains have finally arrived, and the leaves are turning and falling everywhere. We are now focusing on primarily on leaf removal. To maximize our efficiency, we have 15 trailer mounted leaf vacuums which make quick work of picking up leaves. Our crews use blowers to consolidate leaves into piles or wind rows, then vacuum them up with the large vacuums. October is always quite busy as we must change out our seasonal color. We have delayed this change out in recent years as we want to squeeze out every last moment with the summer plantings. In addition, we have also found that planting pansies later in the fall produces healthier plants through the winter and spring. Although they are cold hardy, pansies can be impacted by soil borne disease due to our wet winters. To prevent disease from infecting our pansies, we start by adding fresh potting soil to our planting beds as a part of the planting procedure. We follow this with monthly fungicide treatments throughout the winter. This combination has proven quite successful in reducing disease. To aid in overall site clean-up we recommend an increase in parking lot sweeps during the fall. Combined with our landscape leaf removal efforts, increased sweeping will keep your site cleaner during this messy time of year. We are also happy to coordinate with your sweeping vendor to assure cooperation. In October, we sent our 2011 survey and have received over 50% back. If you haven’t filled it out yet, please do. We hope all our customers return it as we want to hear your feedback. It is very easy to fill out. There are only 13 areas to complete to rate our performance as well as a section for comments. In all, it should only take a few minutes. To make it even easier this year, it can be completed online. When you return your survey, we will send you a Starbucks gift card as a token of our appreciation. Thank you in advance for your response. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. We may sound like a broken record but if you do not have some form of weather based irrigation control, we know you are wasting water and money. With over 150 ET Manager installations over the past 4 years, we estimate that we have saved our customers over 60,000,000 gallons of water and nearly $300,000. You want to be a part of this club! Weather-Based Irrigation Adjusts irrigation daily based on weather Can reduce your water bills by 20% to 40% Requires no additional monitoring fees Can pay for itself in less than 2 years Qualifies for rebate from some water districts The results from 150 ET Manager controllers we operate are starting to come in and the claims of 20-40% savings are again being verified. If you were skeptical of these claims, we now have real world data to back up the claims. Weather Based Irrigation is one of the best ways to reduce your operating expense while maintaining a healthy landscape. Depending on the size and complexity of your site, the payback on your investment is as quick as one or two seasons. We offer a 15% discount for controllers ordered and installed during the winter when our irrigators have extra time to dedicate to this project. We are proud to announce we have received an award for AmberGlen Business Center from our national trade association, the Professional Landcare Network, in their 42nd annual Environmental Improvement Awards program. We accepted this award at the association’s annual conference in Louisville Kentucky on October 28th. Thanks to the AmberGlen Owners Association, KG Investments, Principal Group, Norris Beggs & Simpson, Felton Properties, and Unico Properties for the opportunity to maintain such a great property.
