Social Science Composite Teaching Major

BASIC INFORMATION
Bachelor’s Degree (BS or BA)
–Program Prerequisite: Must satisfy Teacher Education admission and licensure
requirements, and complete Praxis examination (see Teacher Education Department,
626-6309 or WWW.programs.weber.edu/tedadvise and WWW.ets.org/praxis)
–Minor: Not required.
–Grade Requirements: A grade of “C” or better in courses applied toward this major (a
grade of “C-“ is not acceptable). Also refer to the requirements of the Teacher
Education Program.
General Education
Refer to the current catalog for either Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts
requirements. General education courses taken as part of the major and discipline
requirements below will count toward both the Social Science Composite major and
general education requirements. See General Education advisor, 626-7809.
Course Requirements for BS or BA
Complete a Teaching Major in one of the following areas:
History (minimum of 36 credit hours)
Geography (minimum of 36 credit hours)
Political Science (minimum of 39 credit hours)
The student will also fulfill the requirements of the TRACK that corresponds with their
major.
ALL POSSIBLE CARE IS TAKEN IN CHECKING STUDENT RECORDS FOR
GRADUATION; HOWEVER, IT IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT
TO VERIFY ALL REQUIREMENTS FOR A DEGREE. GENERAL EDUCATION
CLEARANCE SHOULD BE DONE WITH THAT SPECIFIC DEPARTMENT.
HISTORY TEACHING MAJOR TRACK
Fulfill all the requirements for a History Teaching Major and also take the following: (30
