Isotopes
Every single atom of any particular element has the
same number of protons in its nucleus, but the
number of neutrons may vary.
Atoms with the same number of protons but different
numbers of neutrons are called isotopes.
Different isotopes of the same element react
chemically in exactly the same way.
Isotopes are atoms of the same
element with different numbers of
neutrons.
Exercise 10.1
Isotopes worksheet
Answer the following questions by using one or
more of the following terms: protons, neutrons,
electrons.
a) Which are nucleons?
b) Which have the same mass?
c) Which have opposite charges?
d) Which has/have no charge?
e) Which is found outside the nucleus?
