Over the last quarter there has been a 15% increase in applicants having a homeless interview compared to the same
quarter last year. There was a corresponding increase of 21% increase in numbers accepted as owed a full homeless
duty. The figures published nationally show that there has been an increase in homeless numbers.
We are working with Mansfield Homeless Network to reduce the impact of homelessness in the area. By working in
collaboration with a range of volunteers, organisations, providers, including Mansfield District Council internal
departments, our aim is to minimise the numbers of those homeless in Mansfield. The Mansfield Homeless Network have
signed up to a shared vision statement and will work in partnership to address any issues faced within the community and
prevent homelessness. The Council’s Homelessness Prevention Team is providing weekly drop in advice sessions at the
Beacon Project.
