Actions:
Action1)Studentsexperiencehighlevelsoflearninginallcontentareas(languagearts,math,science,social
studies,worldlanguages,visualandperformingarts,music,andphysicaleducation)throughtheimplementation
ofeffectiveteachingpracticesandtheuseofstandards-alignedcurricularmaterials.Students’learningand
progressisshownthroughmultiplemeasures,includingbutnotlimitedtostudentwork,progressreportsand
reportcards,andassessmentresults,suchasCAASPPscoresandlocalassessmentmeasures.
Wecontinuetodevelopanduse:
-Standards-aligned,common,formativeassessmentsforlanguageartsandmath
-District-widesystemforassessmentdatacollection
-Commonprotocolsforadministeringtheseassessments

Action2)Studentslearninanenvironmentthatprovidesdeep-content,inquiry-basedlearning.Theyhave
opportunitiestoparticipateinproject-basedlearningthathasrelevant,real-worldapplications.
Action3)Westrivetomaximizeeachchild’spotential.Studentsareprovidedwithdifferentiatedlearningin
theirclassroominwhichteachersusetargetedinstructionalstrategiestoaddressstudents’individualacademic

Goal2:Offereffectiveinterventionprogramstomeettheneedsofallstudents
Actions:
Action1)Weprovideavarietyofsupportsystems,rangingfromschool-wideeffortstoindividualizedplans,to
addressstudents’social-emotionalandbehavioralneeds.
Wecontinuetomaintaincounselingstaffingacrossourschools.Wewilladjuststaffingasappropriate.Schoolbasedcounselingenhancesthesocial-emotionalsupportweofferstudentsandincreasesstudents’feelingof
connectednesstoschool.
ThemiddleschoolcontinuestousetheRestorativeJusticeprogramtoaddressstudentdisciplinaryissues.
Action2)Weoffersupportsystemsatallschoolstoaddresstheacademicneedsofstudentsworkingbelow
gradelevel.Weaddresstheachievementgapthatexistsbetweenstudentgroupsbyimplementing
differentiatedinstructionalpracticesbasedonstudentneed.
Weofferacademicinterventionprograms,suchasReadingAndMathProgram(RAMP)attheelementary
schoolsaswellassupportedmathclassesandtargetedreadinginterventionclassesatthemiddleschool.We
continuetomaintainthestaffingfortheseacademicinterventionsatallschools.Wewilladjuststaffingas
appropriate.
Interventionteachersareprovidedwithandusehigh-quality,research-basedinterventionmaterials.Theyare
alsoofferedopportunitiestoattendinterventiontrainingsandparticipateinpertinentprofessional
developmentprovidedbythedistrict.
Action3)Weofferintervention/homeworkprogramsbeforeorafterschoolthattargetstudentsneeding
additionalsupportwithhomeworkand/orclassroomlearning.
Action4)WecontinuetobuildourEnglishLanguageDevelopment(ELD)program.ELDteachersusehigh-quality
ELDcurricularmaterials,areprovidedwithrelevantprofessionaldevelopmentopportunities,andimplement
research-basedstrategiesinordertobestserveELstudents.WecontinuetomaintainELDstaffingacrossthe
district.Wewilladjuststaffingasappropriate.
Wecontinuetostrengthenparentinvolvementandcommunication.Schoolsareexploringdifferentmodesof
communicationtoensureinformationaccessibilitytoparentsofELstudents.Thisincludesthedevelopmentof
anELDpageonthedistrictwebsite.ResourcesforparentsofELstudentswillbemadeavailableforuseat
home.
TomonitorELstudentprogresswithlanguageacquisition,ELDteachersadministertheCELDT/ELPACinthefall
andotherreadingassessmentseachtrimester.ForRedesignatedFluentEnglishProficientstudents,wemonitor
theiracademicprogressafterreclassificationthroughtheuseofaclearprocessandadatacollectionsystem
developedbytheELDteam.
Goal3:Attract,develop,andretainexcellentstaff
Actions:
Action1)Wecontinuetotargetstafftotalcompensation(salary,healthandwelfare,andbenefits)intop
quartileofcomparabledistricts.
Action2)Weofferstandards-basedteacherautonomyandacademicfreedomsoteachersareabletocreatively
developtheiracademicprogramsandembedinnovativeteachingstrategiesinserviceofgradelevel/content
standards.Teachershaveaccesstohigh-qualityresources,includingtechnologytools,tomosteffectivelydo
theirwork.Thesepracticesstrengthenthecaliberofteachingandthedepthoflearningthattakesplaceinour
classrooms,aswellastheworkenvironmentofallstaff.
Action3)Ourteachersareprovidedawell-developed,comprehensive,anddifferentiatedprofessional
developmentplaninwhichtheyhaveopportunitiestolearnfromoutsidetrainersaswellassharetheir
expertisewitheachother.Thisplanalsoincludesgradelevel/departmentcollaboration,peerobservationsand
feedbackthroughLearningWalks,andregularcollegialplanningandcollaborationtime.Thisemphasison
professionaldevelopmentbuildscapacityinthestaffandgivesteacherstheopportunitytocontinuallyimprove
theirpractice.
TheprimaryareasoffocusforprofessionaldevelopmentattheelementarysitesaretheNextGeneration
ScienceStandards(NGSS)andinquiry-basedlearning,instructionaltechnology,andsocial-emotionalwellbeing/charactereducation.Theprimaryareasoffocusforprofessionaldevelopmentatthemiddleschoolare
instructionaltechnology,standards-basedwork,andsocial-emotionalwell-being.
Weofferclassifiedstaffrelevanttrainingthatisspecifictojobduties,responsibilitiesandmeetingstudent
needs.Job-aliketeamsworkwithsupervisorstodeterminetheirtrainingneeds.Inaddition,classifiedstaffare
providedwithfeedbackasameansofsupportingtheirprofessionalgrowth.
