PERSONAL DEVICES ON THE BUS A couple of years ago Mrs Donald said she was happy for school pupils to use personal devices to listen to music on the school bus. This is to and from school and not on school trips. It has come to our attention that a few of the younger children are playing with phones or tablets in the playground. They are aware this is unacceptable Personal devices on the bus should only be an ipod or phone for listening to music and used with headphones. Tablets and hand held games are not allowed. SHINTY On Saturday 6th February Teanassie’s primary school shinty team travelled to Drumnadrochit with Mr Todd for the National Primary Schools qualifiers. The team featured players from P4-6 who competed against six other teams from the Inverness region in a round robin format. Teanassie got off to an unfortunate start with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Kirkhill Primary in a tight game that could have gone either way. They next met a strong Balnain Primary team who put in a convincing performance to win 3-0, though a powerful attacking display from William Thomas was unfortunate not to be rewarded with a goal. Teanassie turned their fortunes around in game three, registering a 3-0 victory over Cannich Primary to lift the hopes of the team, with goals from Niall Bolger and Torrin Cairns. Despite dominating play throughout Teanassie were unable to convert a number of chances and lost 1-0 to Tomnacross in the following game, conceding an unlucky goal against the run of play despite a strong defensive display from Calum Phimister. Teanassie responded strongly in the next game and managed to overcome Glenurquhart to win 2-0 and restore some confidence to the squad. An early strike from James Madden was a particular highlight which set up the victory. In a backs-to-the-wall match Teanassie put up a spirited defence to hold out for the draw in the final game against eventual winners Tarradale, with goalkeeper Sam Owen making several key saves behind man-of-the match Angus Mearns in defence. Best of luck to Tarradale, who progress to the finals in Fort William and look a force to be reckoned with this year. Throughout the tournament Teanassie played with commitment and represented the school superbly. The spirit of the team was a credit to the school and they can be confident that with the same team eligible next year they are in a great position for the future.
