th The 8 World Congress on Controversies in Ophthalmology (COPHy) Anterior Segment ● Glaucoma ● Retina Madrid, Spain, March 30 - April 1, 2017 www.comtecmed.com/cophy CONCORDANCE BETWEEN THE OSDI QUESTIONNAIRE AND BREAK UP TIME (BUT) SCHIRMER TEST. J. Guzman, A. Madrid, P. Beneyto, C. PIzzamiglio Ophthalmology, complejo hospitalario de toledo, spain AND Purpose: To determine the concordance between the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire, the break up time test (BUT) and the Schirmer type I test. Methods: Prospective study, consecutive sampling, 20 women, both eyes included. The variables are the OSDI questionnaire score, BUT value (seconds), value of the Schirmer type I test without anesthetic (millimeters), and computer work 3 hours a day. A diagnosis of dry eye was considered a score of OSDI ≥ 13, BUT 10 seconds and Schirmer test 10 mm. The concordance was determined using the Kappa index, the internal consistency of the OSDI test with the Cronbach alpha reliability index and the Spearman correlation between the different tests and computer use. Quantitative variables are expressed as mean and 95% confidence intervals. Results: The mean age was 48.15 years (43.99-52.31). Cronbach`s alpha of the OSDI test was 0.911. No significant correlations were found between OSDI and BUT (r -0,053 ; p 0,752), Schirmer ( r-0,047; p 0,777) and computer use (r-0,33 ; p 0,168), but between BUT and Schirmer (r = 0.466 ; p = 0.002). The concordance was between OSDI and BUT (k = 0.036), OSDI and Schirmer (k = 0.152) and between BUT and Schirmer (k = 0.125). Conclusions: There is no acceptable agreement between the results of OSDI and the tests of BUT and Schirmer, explainable because the symptoms and signs in the dry eye are not always parallel.
