MARLBOROUGH NETBALL CENTRE Representative Player and Teams Selection Policies, Procedures and Criteria MNC Representative Sub Committee Objectives Are: To advertise and appoint coaches and managers for each representative team To appoint selection panel who will adhere to the MNC’s selection policy The MNC Rep committee will inform all players by advertising open trials To provide all equipment and uniforms that are required for each teams representative season campaign To ensure all coaches / managers / selectors have been met with prior to the first trial and all paperwork and policy documentation have been clearly explained. See Selector Job Description by using this link: Selector Job Description MNC Selection Policy: The MNC Representative teams will comprise of 10 players, then 10 for the B Team + 2 non travelling players The selection panel will comprise of the coaches in the age group, a rep sub-committee member and one neutral person appointed annually by the MNC Representative sub-committee Core Competencies Personal Qualities Sound quality of technical skill and consistency of performance Sound tactical knowledge and understanding to consistently make appropriate decisions in demanding situations Incorporate flair and innovation in their game Has a good level of fitness required for this level Can sustain intensity in performance throughout game Strong work ethic and Discipline Ability to serve as a role model to others Ability to withstand pressure Demonstrates team qualities Versatility, consistency and adaptability MNC Representative Player Selection Criteria: Players selected for a MNC Representative team must demonstrate a high level of Core Competencies and Personal Qualities as outlined above. A MNC representative player will be selected for consistently high performances, attitude, application and consistency throughout the MNC age group trials. A player’s previous playing performance may be taken into consideration Players attending trials must be a registered player within the MNC Players must attend a minimum of three (3) trials and must be available for all tournament dates required for their age group, any deviation from this is a the rep sub-committees discretion. The MNC ruling is that no more than one (1) tournament can be missed by any player, coach and manager and this information must be given to the MNC Rep committee prior to the naming of the teams; if supplied after, the player, coach or manager may be replaced. Players attending U15 and U17 trials must be under that age as at 1 January of the present year. All players must trial in own age group unless, NDO and Emerging Talent selector deemed that there is no one in the age group that is of equal or better quality following this documents selection policy and criteria Players may only play for one (1) MNC Representative team per season unless dispensation has been sought and approved by the MNC Board. MNC Selection Procedure: The selection process for the MNC Representative Teams encompasses all age group trials The selection panel will observe warm up, drills, games and player performances during the age group trials and select 10 players per team and 2 non traveling training partners. The selection panel will dissolve once the squad / teams have been selected nd The highest ranking coach will have the final placement on the top 1 x 10 and the coach of the 2 team (if numbers allow) the next 1 x 10 and 2 non travelling training partners will then be presented to the Rep Sub-committee. In the event an age group has low numbers attending trials, the selection panel’s job will be complete when they have selected the top 12 players for that age group, following this document selection policy and criteria. All coaches final team list, player availability forms, trial paperwork and Marlborough Netball release forms are to be presented to the MNC Rep Sub-committee upon completion of the age group trials. This will be evaluated to check availability, and by majority vote will submit the teams to the MNC Board for final sign off as per the MNC policy.
