Glossary Entity: A real world thing or object which is distinguishable from every other objects. Attributes: The features used to distinguish an entity. Constraints: Some validity rules to which the contents of the database must confirm. Keys: Identification of attribute and relationships to distinguish entities and relationships from each Mapping Cardinalities: The number of entities to which another entity can be associated through a relationship set. Weak Entity sets: The entities may not have sufficient attributes to form a primary key. Owner entity set: The entity set associated by weak entity sets to be meaningful. Specialization: Designing sub groups within an entity set. Generalization: Relationship that exists between a higher-level entity set and one or more lower-level entity sets. Aggregation: An abstraction in which relationship sets along with their associated entity sets are treated as higher-level entity sets, and can participate in relationships. Data mining: The techniques for discovering patterns in collections of data. Data Ware house: Static data collections to do data mining. 1
