Year in Industry Business Start Up Scheme YIBSS Requirements Initial Business idea/Plan Department agreement and credit rating agreement Plan of action PDP throughout year Close off interview at end to discuss future Continued but more limited support to alumni start ups Kent Enterprise Hub will help all participants to complete a personal development plan; this plan will help each participant provide their monthly progress report. If is considered that satisfactory progress is not being made, or if participants have failed to disclose information which affects their ability to run a business, this will be conveyed to the academic work placement officer. Participation in the YIBBS programme will also require an end report evaluating the learning development of each participant on completion of their year out. Completion of a separate feedback form is also required and participants may be required to participate in an Exit Interview. Each Student will benefit from the following minimum level of support: 1. Introductory session for each participant delivering: Programme outline, expectations, documentation, financial aspects and short introductions to the following: Business strategy / planning Simple Accounting Model Managing Product/Service Delivery Legal / Taxation / Insurance Issues 2. Information on the support available within the institution and the external contact/support available. Details of student enterprise activities: web, blogs, global events, competitions workshops. 3. Brief personal development plan. Identification of any ‘special needs’ for disabled students etc. 4. A nominated ‘Business Coach’ or ‘Mentor’ by email or phone. 5. Access to additional Coaching time or specialist if needed. 6. Access to the Network612 Series held from October to May each year. 7. Access to programme dedicated ‘Hot Desk facilities, telephone and/or virtual office, and institutional IT facilities. This ‘incubator’ provides PC internet access, lockable filing cabinets, meeting rooms and photocopying/fax facilities available for each participant. 8. Networking events 9. Continuous 1:1 sessions with each start up. 10. Access to Student Entrepreneur Networks / Business Seminar Networks associated with other programmes. 11. Close off interview at end of each placement to discuss future.
