Positive Lives Partnership
Funding Available to deliver the Partnership action plan 2013-14
Positive Activities 2013-14 – Gloucestershire County Council
amount
£50,000 available via small grants bidding round from April 2013
onwards
purpose
Young people are able to access a programme of activities,
across the whole borough of Cheltenham that makes a positive
difference to them, their health and wellbeing and the
communities they live in.
criteria
The funding is being made available exclusively to Voluntary &
Community Sector (VCS) organisations to support the direct
provision of positive activities which is defined as activities for
young people that makes a positive difference to them, their
health and wellbeing and the communities they live in. The
funding is also being made available to support the delivery of
positive activities such as the venue, equipment and staffing costs
of such activities, but not the staffing/managerial costs that are not
related to the direct delivery of the project

Cheltenham Borough Council’s Cabinet
role of partnerships
Cheltenham Borough Council will seek advice from the
partnerships in regard of the final application criteria and will
request partnership representation on the assessment panel to
support the decision-making process.
It will also seek advice from the Activities and Facilities for Young
People group in regards of gaps in provision (geographic and
themes) to where the funding might be best directed to.
Health Inequalities Grant – Public Health, Gloucestershire County Council
amount
£40,000
to be allocated against the following:
 Project funding for CBC Healthy Lifestyles Team
 Small Grants pot
 Specific commissioned activities – aligned to new partnership
action plan

To support the collaborative working of local partnerships and
their communities towards delivering the Gloucestershire Health
and Wellbeing Strategy
criteria
To be agreed – last year’s objectives were to:
 Support local partnerships to encourage and enable more
people to become more active and improve their physical and
mental health
 Support the local initiatives/programs in those communities and
neighbourhoods that currently do not engage in physical activity
 Support local people to become actively involved in their
communities through volunteering/coaching.
In order to deliver:
 Measured and sustained improvements in overall health and
wellbeing of targeted communities

Cheltenham Borough Council will seek advice from the
partnerships in regard of the final application criteria and will

Police and Crime Commissioner’s Fund

Subject to cabinet approval
Grants can cover a range of costs such as practical work;
feasibility studies, or research projects, group or partnership
development, awareness raising, training, equipment and
materials, marketing and promotion.
Generally, projects that simply continue the management and
maintenance of existing facilities or resources will not be
supported.
Police and Crime Commissioner
Documentation and application form on partnership website; with
links to other resources to help bidders such as latest data and
needs analysis, partnership priorities and where applicants can
find support to help prepare bids.
Potential informal role in endorsing bids / encouraging bids where
they support our priorities;
Partnerships happy to support in subsequent iterations of the
process.
£50,000 available via small grants
Support community-based projects that will build up community
pride and enable local groups to be more influential in supporting
their communities and improving their neighbourhoods
Any parish council, constituted voluntary sector, community or
neighbourhood-based organisation can apply.
Funding will be allocated on a 50% match-funding basis; in that
the council will fund 50% of the agreed costs of the project, with
the other 50% of costs being met by the organisation through
either match funding or contributions in-kind.
Projects should be of a permanent nature, be accessible at nocost to the general public and should create a lasting legacy for
the local community. We can only fund time-limited projects up to
a maximum of 12 months from the project start date.
