2016 AA & AAA BASEBALL
FAMILY FUN DAY TOURNAMENT RULES
1.
All Interleague rules apply, unless changed by the rules below.
2.
Continuous batting order, with the order remaining the same the entire
tournament. Each game begins where the previous game concluded.
a. For example: Scott is the #5 hitter and Tom is the #6 hitter. If Scott is the
last out of the game, Tom would be the leadoff hitter for the next game.
3.
Playing time
a. Each player can only be on the bench a maximum of one inning per game.
b. Each player can only play one inning at a single position per game. If a
team moves players during an inning, then both positions played during
the inning count toward this requirement.
i. Exception: A player can play a maximum of 2 innings at catcher.
c. Both requirements reset at the conclusion of each game.
4.
Games are 35 minutes long or 3 complete innings, whichever comes first
a. No new inning after 35 minutes, but complete the current inning fully (top
and bottom if needed). If tied, go to tie breaker (#7 below).
b. Bottom half of the last inning is not played if the home team is ahead.
Third inning is not played if either team is ahead by 6 or more.
5.
Batters will be pitched to by a machine. Normal baseball rules for balls and
strikes apply. Coach operating machine will call strikes.
6.
Runs scored: During regulation, max runs per inning will be 5. During overtime
the max runs per inning is 3. As stated in the AA & AAA Local Rules, Rule 6, if a
ball is put into play that would normally result in more than 5 runs crossing the
plate, the official scoring will show only 5 runs.
7.
Games cannot end in a tie -- if tied after the final inning, extra innings will be:
a. Runner (last out from previous inning) will be placed on second base
b. There will be 1 out and max runs per inning will be 3
8.
Stealing of any base is allowed, consistent with Interleague rules. The pitcher is
considered to be “on the rubber” when the ball is handed to the coach
operating the pitching machine.
9.
Base coaches and coach running machine will umpire.
10. Home team is determined by coin toss before the game.
11. Winning team is responsible for reporting the winner. Bracket will be posted on
the message board outside of the concession stand. Scores are not recorded.
