Name: _____________________________________ Period: ___________________ Unit 2 Goal Page: Angles Unit 2 Standards I teach using the California State Geometry standards; however they have been regrouped by units. This unit is represented by an “L” and any questions related to lines or logic will be entered into the grade book under “L.” Below are the California standards within this unit. 1.0: Students demonstrate understanding by identifying and giving examples of undefined terms, axioms, theorems, and inductive and deductive reasoning. 2.0: Students write geometric proofs, including proofs by contradiction 3.0: Students construct and judge the validity of a logical argument and give counterexamples to disprove a statement. 17.0; Students prove theorems by using coordinate geometry, including the midpoint of a line segment, the distance formula, and various forms of equations of lines and circles. Unit 2 Vocabulary Acute angle Obtuse angle Right angle Straight angle Angle Vocabulary is a huge part of Geometry; this is a good tool to use to study. Linear pair Alternate exterior angles Supplementary angles Alternate interior angles Complementary angles Consecutive interior angles Vertical angles Consecutive exterior angles Corresponding angles Parallel lines Transversal Angle measure Unit 2 Learning Targets Below are the topics covered in this unit, all of these topics are entered into the grade book under “L” for lines & logic. Learning Target A1 I can define & identify acute, obtuse, right, straight angles. A2 I can define & identify linear pair/supplementary, complementary, & vertical angles & use them to find missing angle measures. A3 I can understand proofs related to angle pairs such as supplementary, complementary, right angles & vertical angles. A4 I can define & identify corresponding, alternate exterior, alternate interior, consecutive interior & consecutive exterior angles when 2 parallel lines are cut by a transversal & use to find missing angle measures. I can understand deductive proofs about angles on parallel lines cut by a transversal. A5 Description CA Std Unit 2 Calendar Below is a projected calendar, it is subjected to possible changes. That is why this is called a “goal page,” one of our goals is to follow this schedule. Architecture Project We will take pictures of buildings in Cal State LA and identify the vocabulary we learned in this unit. I have read the Unit 2 Goal Page and know that I can contract Ms. Applebaum with any further questions at [email protected] or call the school and leave a message. Note: When you come to Back to School Night & can answer a question about this goal page, your student will receive an extra restroom pass.
