AUTUMN AVAILABILITY 2014
Late summer and early Autumn are the traditional time to plant up any new beds or fill existing gaps before the
weather turns cooler. Make sure to use a loamy soil in troughs or containers (John Innes No. 1 or 2 (2 parts) mixed
with horticultural grit (1 part) and avoid multi-purpose compost.
Our nursery & alpine garden are situated at over 900ft. in the Yorkshire Pennines, with lovely views across the
moors. The nursery is open in the autumn by prior appointment (call 01422 845348 or email). All plants listed below
are currently available by mail order. We are one of very few alpine nurseries where all plants for sale are
propagated and grown on the nursery and are fully hardy. Species of which we hold very small stocks are not
listed, so please ask if you have any special requests. A warm welcome and friendly service awaits!
Please note: we can only take payment by CASH or CHEQUE at the nursery, no cards sorry.

Mail Order service
Simply fill in your requirements on the form (p12) and post it to us with the appropriate payment (see Payment
section below). Please note that due to the high labour input on mail order, our minimum order value is £20
sterling, excluding postage. Please allow up to 14 days* for despatch.* except in unusually prolonged periods of
below zero temperatures when plants can be completely frozen and not suitable for posting.
NEW LOWER DELIVERY CHARGES for 2014
Good news! We use Parcel Force 48 Hour delivery service and have negotiated a new flat rate charge of £9.80 for
parcels containing up to 35 plants. This is a 40% saving on postage. If we receive enough orders then this rate will
continue – if not, then we reserve the right to revert to the Parcelforce standard rate which is £15.99. ‘Use it or lose
it’ as they say!
Very large orders will cost extra, in which case we will advise you. Charges and delivery vary for the Scottish
Highlands & Islands of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and Isles of Scilly – please phone or email to
request postage costs for these locations.
Payment
Please make payment by cheque or postal order, made payable to ‘Slack Top Nurseries’. Do not send cash.
Please enclose your email address so we can notify you when your order has been posted.
Alternatives
Please list a few alternatives in case your choices are not available, or instruct us to substitute with something
similar, or if you prefer we can return a credit note. Alternatively you may wish to send a limit cheque, where you
simply write in words the maximum value of your order at the top of the cheque, leaving the box for figures blank.
We will then complete the text and figures for the correct amount.
Dwarf conifers and larger plants
Please note that we package dwarf conifers to endeavour to avoid damage in transit but sometimes their growth
can be temporarily distorted as a result. In ordering dwarf conifers by mail order you are accepting that this may
happen, and we can bear no responsibility for it. The plant soon regains its natural shape. Larger subjects may also
have their pot and some compost removed.
Delivery days
We try to despatch parcels on a Monday, where possible, so they are usually delivered on a Wednesday
(sometimes Tuesday). This avoids any weekend delays, especially in warm weather.
