How many protons, electrons, and neutrons are
in a normal atom (non ion)?
The atomic number tells you how
many protons are in that atom’s
nucleus.
An atom has no overall electrical
charge = meaning it has the same
number of protons and electrons.
Therefore, the atomic number also
tells you how many electrons are in
the atom.
The number of neutrons in an atom
is found by:
Mass Number – Atomic Number
