Physical Setting : is the setting that describes the physical background of a
story, e.g the description of a room, a house/building, an object, a war
zone, an inundated area,etc.

Social setting is the setting that describesthe social background of a story,
e.g. the description of people’s attitude/behaviour, tradition, social values
etc.
•
Metaphorical/synbolical setting is the atmosphere of the whole story, e.g.
superficial, depressive, happy/cheerful, etc.
