FOR WHOM:
In its continuing endeavor to strengthen its MBA program, GTU now offers a Certificate
Course for those, who have completed their MBA. This can also be considered as an
additional, optional specialization for MBA students of GTU Programs, in which the
Specialization is offered during the third and the fourth semesters of MBA.
WHY THIS COURSE?
Financial Markets today are major drivers of economies globally and in India. The
Financial Services Sector, including Financial Market participants, offers significant
employment opportunities to management students.
Besides the essential theoretical and practical skills in Financial Management and
Management of Financial Services, with this programme, GTU aims at imparting
essential industry knowledge for students to be better prepared for careers in Financial
Markets.
Being a greater career and practice oriented course, GTU has envisaged an additional
certification by the Financial Market Regulator, accepted by the Industry Employer and
required by regulators for jobs in Financial Markets Institutions.
Knowledge of ‘How Financial Markets Work’ is essential for any management career –
in the Financial or the Corporate Sector, whether for financial or marketing or even
operations management careers.
PROGRAM PARTNERS:
GTU certificate course and additional specialization in Financial Markets is being offered
with support from a leading stock exchange and a reputed financial markets education
institution.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
This course in How Financial Markets Function represents a model of career focused,
value added professional training for MBA students. The objective of the certificate
course is to open up professional careers in financial markets, to work with financial
institutions and market practitioners, or even in corporate finance jobs.
COURSE STRUCTURE:
The course has been structured as an additional specialization option for the second
year MBA students, with 6 courses and 15 credits.
For past MBA students, the same 6 courses and 15 credits will qualify them for the
award of a certificate upon successful completion.
COURSE CONTENT
This Course in How Financial Markets Function aims at introducing students to the
Financial Markets structure, participants, products and services and the regulatory
issues, covering all major market segments – Equity, Debt, Currency and Commodity. At
the end, students will also be taken through the current issues in the markets by the
practicing market professionals.
EVALUATION and CERTIFICATION:
Students will be required to pass professional certification examinations recognized and
required by financial markets regulators as official qualifications that will enable the
students to qualify for jobs with all financial markets participants.
COURSE CALENDAR AND TIMING:
The course will be offered starting January 2013 for past MBA students.
The course can also be considered as an additional specialization for students of
Semester III & IV for second year MBA students of the GTU program.
