Fence Information (Rev. 4-11-08)
Development Code 18.58.370—Fences and walls are permitted in any zone subject to the
following conditions:

No fence or wall shall be permitted on any public or private easement that has been
granted for road purposes, excepting that fences and walls may be placed in any fee
strip which serves only one lot and over which there is no road easement access.
Fences or walls are permitted on other easements subject tot the other provisions of
this section, provided easement holders of record have given written permission for
such fence or wall.
Fences or walls are permitted anywhere on a building site, except as set forth in
Subsections A and B of this section, subject to the following height limits:

Any fence or wall placed within any required main building setback from any
public or private road easement shall have a maximum height of sixty inches
if the fence or wall is not a solid fence or wall or forty-two inches in height if
the fence or wall is a solid fence or wall. For the purposes of this section,
“solid fence or wall” means any fence or wall which is less than ninety
percent transparent.
Any fence or wall placed anywhere on the lot, except as set forth in subsection
(c) (1) of this section, may not exceed ten feet.

Trees, shrubs, flowers and plants shall be permitted in any yard, except that no hedge shall be
grown or maintained at a height greater than that permitted by this title for a solid fence or wall.
