Continents are the LARGE landmasses on the earth’s surface. There are seven of them—North America, South America,
Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. The continents are surrounded by large bodies of water. The largest bodies of
water are called oceans. There are five oceans. There used to be four oceans—the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian
Ocean, and Arctic Ocean. Geographers have now decided to make the water around Antarctica a separate ocean, called the
Southern Ocean. So, now there are five oceans—the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Arctic Ocean, and Southern
Ocean.
