The trip to Castilla y León was really quite spectacular. Salamanca
and Valladolid were two cities absolutely full of history and
architectural beauty that we got the chance to enjoy fully with the
help of knowledgeable and friendly tour guides.
The trip definitely gave us a real impression of Spanish culture, not
simply a quaint caricature one might present to tourists as there is
something distinctly and irrefutably Spanish about the illuminated
surroundings of a Plaza Mayor in the warm night air. The food was
just as distinctive and was also well enjoyed.
I can only thank the Spanish Ministry of Education, Iberia Express
and the Junta de Castilla y León for their immense generosity in
providing me with a reward beyond what I could have reasonably
expected that will undoubtedly serve as a strong incentive to Irish
students of the Spanish language.
