Chapter 6
1. Polygon- a closed plane figure formed by three or more sides such that each segment intersects
exactly two other segments only at their endpoints and no two segments with a
common endpoint are collinear
2. Side of a polygon-segment that forms a side of a polygon
3. Vertex of a polygon-common endpoint of two sides
4. Diagonal of a polygon-segment that connects two nonconsecutive sides
5. Regular polygon-polygon that is both equilateral and equiangular
6. Concave polygon-a polygon with any part of a diagonal in the exterior of the polygon
7. Convex polygon-a polygon with no part of any diagonal in the exterior of the polygon.
8. Parallelogram-quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides
9. Rectangle-a quadrilateral with four right angles
10. Rhombus- a quadrilateral with four congruent sides
11. Square- quadrilateral with four right angles and four congruent sides
12. Trapezoid- quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides
13. Base of a trapezoid- one of the parallel sides of a trapezoid
14. Legs of a trapezoid- one of the nonparallel sides of a trapezoid
15. Base angles of a trapezoid-two consecutive angle of a trapezoid with a base as an included side
16. Isosceles trapezoid-trapezoid with congruent legs
17. Midsegment of a trapezoid- segment whose endpoints are the midpoints of the legs of the
trapezoid
