Why study a foreign language?
• Language study is more important than ever before in
the United States.
• Knowledge of foreign languages is now a fundamental
and indispensable part of every student’s education
and allows them to:
– Play a meaningful role in world discourse
– Protect our national security
– Compete with our international counterparts in every field of
study imaginable.
• With language study, students can communicate and
interact with large populations of speakers coming from
different cultural and ideological backgrounds.
