The Cobham Isolated Point of Load Modules (iPOLs),
part of the Power Distribution Module (PDM) family of
products, offer the industry's best end-to-end efficiency
from the satellite bus to the point of load. The PDMs
excel at speed, density, and efficiency to meet the
demands of advanced power applications while
providing isolation from input to output.
The iPOLs are isolated, unregulated, DC/DC converters
that divide down the intermediate bus voltage, provided
by the IRM, by a constant k-factor. With the Adaptive
Loop feature of the IRM, the iPOLs can provide +/2.5% end of life load regulation.
This iPOLs achieve a power density of >150W/in3 in a
power package compatible with standard Hi-Rel manual
surface mount assembly processes. The fast dynamic
response and low noise performance of the iPOLs
eliminates the need for bulk capacitance at the load,
substantially increasing system density while improving
reliability and decreasing cost.
